Amazon moving to acquire Whole Foods to add to their platform is significant and it leverages their distribution abilities and network, their Prime Pantry offering, and their new experimental technologies of checking out of stores without having to go through a checkout line. Between the big data Amazon already has in house, those customer profiles, and this now high-end brand I think this is a move family offices should be watching and adapting as relevant to their own direct investment portfolios.
